Structural end of life looks like this: the floor has rotted through in two or three places, the roof panels have pitted past the point of patching, the door gaskets fail to seal even after replacement, and the cross-members are eaten enough that a forklift could fold a corner. Is leaving a retired container on my property an option?
Technically yes, but a derelict bin becomes a future liability when the property changes hands. Buyers, lenders, and home inspectors flag retired containers as removal obligations. If the bin is past trade-in condition, removal is usually cheaper to handle now than to negotiate during a future sale.
