- Full-size pickup truck garage use. F-150/Tundra/RAM 1500 trucks at 1.96-1.98 m tall stock height fit a Standard container with only 40-43 cm of headroom. Add a 3-inch lift and clearance gets uncomfortable. High Cube provides 70-75 cm of clearance even on lifted full-size trucks.
- Refrigerated reefer applications. The reefer unit and overhead air-handling reduce interior height by 15-20 cm; High Cube starting height preserves usable interior volume. - Multi-container home builds. Stacking two 40ft HCs vertically gives meaningfully more interior volume than two standards, which translates to more comfortable residential space at the same footprint.
Standard is fine for:
- General storage of palletised or boxed goods. Most commercial inventory storage uses 1.5-1.8 m tall pallets, well within standard headroom.
- Farm equipment, tools, and supplies. Tractor parts, fencing, feed, and bagged supplies all fit comfortably in standard.
- Construction site office use. Site office trailers run 2.1-2.3 m of clearance; standard container exceeds that.

Every cutout in a container wall removes structural steel from the load path. The container’s structural envelope distributes load between the top rails, bottom rails, and side walls. Cutting a window or door without reinforcing the cut edge weakens the side wall and can cause the panel to buckle when the container moves on a tilt-deck.

Strategy 1: heaviest at the cargo doors, lightest at the closed end
Weight distribution affects how the container handles on the tilt-deck during delivery and how the floor flexes over the long term.
