The Township has roughly 21,000 residents but sits inside an extensive trail network through hardwood forests that earned it the title “Canada’s Trail Capital.” Trans Canada Trail, Durham Forest trails, and the broader hiking-and-equestrian network across the township make Uxbridge a destination for outdoor recreation that significantly exceeds what the population alone would suggest. The Township is also surrounded by the Oak Ridges Moraine, which adds environmental-protection layers across most of the rural land.
